I just got back from Ignite Portland, an event which gave 18 different people 5 minutes present something, anything. That’s right! It was extremely random, moderately comical and 100% entertaining.
Hands down, the best-5-minutes-of-the-night-award goes to a guy, Marco, for explaining “how to have great txt.” In short, it turns out there’s an art to interacting through text using SMS, IM, Facebook/Myspace/any other social media platform and when mastered it can potentially lead to friendships, love, or in some cases, “business time.” Marco’s 5 minute lesson near-perfectly explained my entire existence. Cheers, Marco!
On another note, after the event I was ignited with sadness, anger and un-caged fury when I discovered my bicycle had been “jacked.” It was locked-up a few blocks away in front of my office. Yeah, someone cut the flippin lock. Honestly, what the heck?
I won’t be too much of a “Debbie Downer,” but if you see some skallywag whipping around on a black Kona bicycle, branded the “Smoke,” let me know. Choose your battles wisely, as I’m sure Kona manufactured more than just my “Smoke.”

Oh, man! I’m so sorry to hear that someone ripped off your bike. Make sure you report it, and let me know if there’s anything we can do to help (get you in touch with W+K security people, or whatever).

Sorry to hear about your bike, you can list your stolen bike here:

You can also list your bike on bikeportland.org. That list gets a lot of visibility.
Wow! Thanks for all the comments and emails. It’s crazy to believe how effective social media can be. Case in point – I know of five tweets (via Twitter) that went out informing people about my stolen bike.
Thanks, again.
